What happens to us when we die? What is our ultimate destiny? This episode concludes our series on the Christian worldview by considering where we end up after this life. The Bible teaches Christians go to heaven. Non-Christians are quarantined forever from God’s presence in hell through their own choice.

24 – Definition of a worldview

44 – Worldview mnemonic “GO HOME”

25 – Christian perspective of our destiny or what happens after we die. Human beings have both a physical body and an immaterial, spiritual soul that co-exist. At physical death, the body separates from the immortal soul (Matt. 10:28). Every dead person’s soul goes to an intermediate state of conscious existence (Luke 16:22-23) until they reunite with their physical bodies.

45 – At Christ’s Second Coming (Acts 1:10–11), Christians will receive new bodies reunited to our souls (1 Cor. 15:20-23, Col. 1:18) the same way Jesus resurrected from the dead with a glorified body.

39 – Both resurrected dead Christians and living Christians will receive glorified, incorruptible, and immortal physical bodies (1 Cor. 15).

02 – At the same time, dead non-Christians will be resurrected and reunited with their immortal bodies and judged by Jesus (Rev. 20:11-15)

26 – There are two judgments at Christ’s Second Coming. (1) The “Last Judgment” separates the saved from the unsaved (Matt. 25:31-46) (2) The “Christians’ Judgment” where Christ determines our heavenly rewards (2 Cor. 5:10).

30 – There are two eternal destinies: heaven and hell. Both are real places. Heaven is a beautiful place free from sin (Rev. 21:4), filled with a wide diversity of peoples (Rev. 7:9), and most importantly, God is there, and we will be able to worship him forever.

52 – But people who chose to reject Jesus in this life will be sent to hell. Hell is a place of everlasting punishment and eternal conscious torment. Tragically, everyone in hell is separated from God’s light, love, joy, and peace for eternity.

13 – So What? How are we to respond practically to our destiny? Christians should passionately evangelize non-Christians. Our hearts should break that anyone in our sphere could go to hell, and we didn’t tell them about Jesus.

54 – As Christians, we should also consider that our actions affect future rewards in heaven. The importance of our judgment and future rewards should affect how we live now. As Christians, Jesus cares about every one of our decisions, and it will affect our eternal experience (Matt. 12:36). Everything we do for God’s glory, he will reward.

58 – Thank you and wrap up
