The inspiration of the Bible is the last topic of our eight-part series entitled “Putting the Fun in…”. We have put fun into the fundamentals or essential doctrines of Christianity. “Inspiration” refers to the Holy Spirit carrying along the authors to write the very words of God.
00 – Welcome
02 – Inspiration refers to Scripture being God-breathed “All Scripture is breathed out by God…” (2 Tim 316).
01 – Inspiration is a mystery. But we know the Holy Spirit “carried along” each author (2 Pet.1:21).
00 – It is the words themselves that are inspired. Each biblical book has two authors, God, and a human author.
00 – Is there any proof that the Bible is Inspired?
15 – The Old Testament is inspired according to the authors.
50 – Jesus also confirmed the Old Testament inspiration when he said, “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matt. 4:4).
14 – Jesus promised the New Testament’s inspiration through the Holy Spirit when he said “[T]he Holy Spirit … will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14: 26).
04 – New Testament writers also confirm its inspiration. Peter writes, “[O]ur beloved brother Paul also wrote to you … as he does in all his letters … There are some things in them that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other Scriptures.” (2 Peter 3:15-16).
27 – The Bible’s unity points to inspiration spanning 1500 years.
25 – Fulfilled prophecy is evidence of inspiration.
25 – There are more than 300 fulfilled prophecies about Jesus.
03 – So What? Turn to the Bible as the only trustworthy, reliable and errorless source to live a contented and godly life.
